Consistent with the company's goals to promote business process improvement and help organizations and individuals to become "world class", JDQ Systems Inc. has become a key sponsor of a local Six Sigma special interest group (SIG). The American Society for Quality (ASQ Vancouver section) 6 Sigma SIG was formed by JDQ President and ASQ Certified Six Sigma Black Belt, Jon Morris, in response to growing interest in the Six Sigma improvement methodology.
Morris states: "The Six Sigma SIG was started with the intention of sharing Six Sigma information and problems. Six Sigma black belts will find the Six Sigma case studies we present and resolve quite challenging and the statistical analysis advanced but practical. It will also be of interest to those planning to take the ASQ Certified Six Sigma Black Belt exam in October, 2004."
As a sponsor, JDQ contributes senior resources for the SIG's planning and training activities, and computer equipment and software for use at the SIG's meetings. Under a training license agreement with Minitab, JDQ provides statistical solutions to Six Sigma case studies using Minitab 14 Statistical Software.
The group meets once or twice per month. It is recommended that participants in the advanced sessions already be certified as a CQE, CRE, CQM, CQT and/or 6 Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt. For those new to the Six Sigma methods and statistics in general, basic statistics refresher sessions are organized. Commitment to the October 2004 ASQ Certified Six Sigma Black Belt exam is not required.
