Donation of Expertise to Lower Mainland Non-Profits
JDQ Systems Inc. has selected
Developmental Disabilities Association (DDA) as the recipient of its
Fall 2007 3Spheres of Reciprocity™ Initiative. The DDA, lead by Executive Director Alanna Hendren, has developed an innovative system of accounting for assistive resources, measurable outcomes and resource allocation. This tool enables the gathering, calculation and analysis of essential information that helps in achieving optimal solutions for its clients.
JDQ president Jon Morris will lead a team of business analysts in the definition of the software application requirements for this system. Assistance will also include conceptual design activities and research into unique user interfaces to meet DDA’s needs.
With the overall goal of better serving the needs of DDA’s staff, volunteers, supporters and funders, the requirements definition process will consider:
- the needs of the 50+ DDA programs using a manual version of the system, and
- the broader use of the application by similar organizations around the world.
During this 3 month project, JDQ will provide leadership with the same rigor as any other JDQ initiative.
”The DDA is thrilled to receive this valuable support from JDQ and its collaborators on the 3Spheres team,” says Alanna Hendren, Executive Director. “It is an outstanding example of how socially committed companies can contribute to growth and innovation in the non-profit sector.”
About Developmental Disabilities Association The Developmental Disabilities Association’s mission is to enable people with developmental disabilities to achieve their full potential. In 1952, twelve parents of children with developmental disabilities came together to work towards integrating their children into public schools. By the 1990's, that parent group – called the Vancouver-Richmond Association for Mentally Handicapped People – had become Canada's largest charitable society of its kind west of Toronto. In 1998, recognizing changes in society, the wishes of its members, and its expanded role in the community, the Association changed its name. It is now the Developmental Disabilities Association. The Developmental Disabilities Association serves over 1500 children and adults and operates more than 50 community programs.
