JDQ Announces Surrey Food Bank Society as latest recipient of its 3Spheres InitiativeNews Release: April 24, 2006JDQ Systems Inc. is pleased to announce the Surrey Food Bank Society (SFBS) as the latest recipient of its 3Spheres of Reciprocity™ initiative. SFBS currently uses a custom database application for client registration. Maintaining accurate and timely registration data is critical in ensuring fair distribution of limited food resources and maintaining credibility with donors, volunteers, clients, media and providers. With an ever increasing demand for its services, SFBS has an immediate need for upgrades to the existing client registration system in the following areas:
JDQ principals Derek Shackleford and Brent Fischbach will lead a team of business analysts, application developers and technical writers in the creation and implementation of a new client registration application. Designed to better serve the needs of SFBS's staff, volunteers, supporters and constituents, the design and development process will also consider the potential for this application to benefit the other food banks across Canada. During this 3 month project, JDQ will provide technical and management directorship with the same rigor as any other JDQ initiative. About Surrey Food Bank Society Since 1983, the Surrey Food Bank's mission has been to "Help People Help Themselves" - to give people a "hand up, not a hand out". This has been accomplished in a variety of ways but primarily by providing food hampers designed to supplement a client's food needs. The Surrey Food Bank Society currently distributes over 56,000 food hampers a year, more than 13,000 people each month receive food from the SFB. For some people in our communities, food has become an unaffordable luxury. Struggling parents often skip meals in order to feed their children. Fresh fruits and vegetables and a glass of milk are simply not available to many children. Some families and senior citizens are forced to choose between buying expensive prescription medications and food to eat. Some people are disabled and not capable of working full time or at all and go hungry because of it. Other parents are unable to work in order to care for a physically or developmentally disabled child. Some parents are not able to afford the expensive yet necessary staples for their babies and young children, such as formula, pablum and diapers. These are some of the people that Surrey Food Bank helps. Please visit www.surreyfoodbank.org for more information. About 3Spheres™ 3Spheres is a philosophy and model for healthy, optimal, and successful community engagement. It is a paradigm for social responsibility and cooperative relationships grown from the fundamental understanding that we can all thrive by participating simultaneously in the spheres of Helping, Learning and Profiting. Ultimately, it is a model for other small and medium sized businesses to share best practices with each other and the community. For more information, please visit www.jdq.com/3spheres. |
